In 2017, Lendable was a new entrant in emerging markets financial technology sector, intending to make frontier market consumer and small business debt a competitive asset class.
Our Solution
To support Lendable achieve its goal, we spent considerable time with the founder team to build an investor narrative, create awareness amongst originators and investors, and position Lendable as a thought leader in the fintech and asset finance space. We trained spokespeople and developed a communications framework and process.
We helped them build their brand collateral and digital assets to articulate how their tech-enabled lending platform matched alternative lenders with off-shore investors. We co-authored op-eds on financial inclusion and co-designed and managed two Nairobi meetings, at one of which Lendable launched its asset financing ecosystem for emerging consumers in Africa. These thought leadership-led client acquisition events demonstrated their convening power; Lendable replicated the model in Uganda and Western Africa.
The Impact
We were there at the start helping to position Lendable as the leading emerging market credit fund and EM credit as an investment class – as evidenced by the $249 million in funds now deployed, with capital from impact investors like Ceniarth, Three Ridge Capital, and Shinnecock Partners. And we are supporting the launch of their new $500m DFI fund.
